Veekee James claps back at troll who insulted her looks

She says that a lot of social media trolls are not very bright and do not know where to direct their energy.

Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has responded to a troll who criticised her looks and stressed that she is made perfect by God.

It all began when an Instagram user took to the designers comment section to say, “Na filter and wig dey help this woman,” asserting that her beauty is attributed to beauty filters and her wigs. James saw the comment and promptly responded with a video, which she posted to her page on October 25, 2024.

To silence the hater, she addressed the public with her bare face and no wig and emphasised the importance of the energy people project online and how it affects others.

“The problem with many of you is that you are not very smart,” she started.

She continued, “Many of you aren’t very smart because you should be very intentional about the kind of energy you give off and where you give off that energy because, whether it be negative energy or positive energy, you should be concerned about the result of the energy you give off.”

Veekee advised the troll to direct her energy into something else that would yield better results for her, stressing that she cannot be shamed.

She said, “If you come on my page and drop something that is supposed to make me feel ashamed of something that is supposed to make me feel bad, you should be ready to see that it yields results, right? Based on the fact that you know what I’m someone who feels ashamed when people say stuff about me, when people say negative things about me, then you should know that this energy your bringing is going to hit.”

“But if you know that when you keep giving some of energy and it’s not giving results, my brother, my sister, why are you wasting your time? Why waste your time where you won’t get results?” the designer added.

Veekee went on to highlight that negative comments don’t affect her the way the troll might expect.

“It’s clear you’re not purpose or self-driven, who would be ashamed to come on social media with my natural face?”

She embraced her natural beauty, saying, “This is the face of someone who hasn’t slept in days and has been under the sun. This is a perfect face and a face designer by God, and skin created by the almighty. He made me in his own image I’m 100 percent. If you want to talk rubbish, go to the place where it might be appreciated…You can’t shame the shameless; I am unapologetically me.”

“And I’m like, hey, you are not alone. You can do it. And I stood, I spoke. I learned that from there, that you have to be bold. You have to be courageous. You have to be strong. What will be will be. Fear will only put you in a place.”

Following his outing at the recently held 17th Headies, where he was nominated for the Rookie of the Year prize, rising Afrobeats star Kaestyle has released a new EP.

The three-track EP, ‘Rookie’s Don’t Sound This Good,’ comes after he failed to pick up the prize.

Undaunted, Kaestyle’s new EP speaks to his mindset as a vast star, combining genres with a rich infusion of his cultural influences to create an exciting sound winning him mainstream attention.

With ‘Rookies don’t sound this good,’ Kaestyle confidently states that artistry surpasses the Rookie tag as he delivered records only a well-rounded star can deliver.

The three-track project kicks off with ‘Chineke,’ a breezy opener featuring emerging talent Starsamm, where Kaestyle playfully confesses how overwhelmed he is by his love interest, so much so that only God (Chineke) can save him.

The energy carries into ‘How Much,’ where he shows emotional honesty by sharing the blurred lines between desire, temptation, and affection over party-starting production that showcases his hitmaking credentials.

The project closes with ‘a.o.m.g (Ahead of My Game),’ on which he reflects on his rise from modest beginnings, declaring his growth and sense of purpose with lyrical sharpness and calm confidence.

The EP is Kaestyle’s way of making it clear that he’s not just here to participate, but instead to dominate as he possesses the artistry to command attention and wow listeners.

Kaestyle reacted to the Headies loss by congratulating the winner and making it clear that his hit collaboration with label mate and Afrobeats superstar Omah Lay deserved a nod for Best Collaboration.
