Hunters rescue kidnap victim – The Deputy C-G commended…

The Deputy C-G commended the rescue team for their gallantry and assured that the hunters will continue to ensure that Anambra forests are safe from criminal invasions.

The Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), says it has rescued a kidnap victim, one Chukwunonso Nzekwe, at Nimo Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra.

The Deputy Commander-General of NHFSS in charge of Intelligence, Dr John Metchie, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. Metchie said that the victim was rescued in a joint operation by the NHFSS and the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra Brigade (Ochabrigade) conducted on Saturday.

He explained that the rescue followed a report of a kidnap incident during a prayer by the Catholic Church parishes in the Nimo community, when the victim, who is a building engineer, was kidnapped.

He said that after the abduction, the victim was taken to Agu Urukwelora village in Egbengwu Ojideleke Nimo, adding that the eagle eyes of the NHFSS intelligence officer in the village saw them in the bush.

“He informed a retired Superintendent of Police who in a swift response with other officers apprehended one of the kidnappers who hails from Nasarawa State and resident in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.

“Though his partners escaped after serious gun battles, the victim was rescued.

“A locally made gun was also recovered, and the suspect was quickly handed over to the police at the Rapid Response section at Awkuzu for discreet investigation,” he said.

Metchie commended the rescue team for their gallantry, assuring that the hunters would continue to ensure that Anambra forests were safe from criminal invasions. He also solicited more information from members of the public to enable them to tackle security challenges, adding that the public should endeavour to say something when they see something.

He reiterated the commitment of the NHFSS to continue to collaborate with Ochabrigade in cleaning the state of criminal elements. He also commended the Commander-General, Dr Joshua Osatimehin, for his transformational leadership as well as the Anambra State Commander, Destiny Jonas for his dedication to the service.

The Police Command in Nasarawa State says it has neutralised a notorious kidnapper in Akwanga Local Government Area.

SP Ramhan Nansel, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed this in a statement to journalists on Saturday in Lafia.

He said the feat was achieved through a joint patrol team of its personnel, the Army and local vigilantes, who neutralised the leader of a kidnapping and robbery gang operating in the area.

“This achievement occurred on Friday, March 14, at about 10:00 pm when security operatives tracked down the suspect, known as Honor.

“He is a well-known armed robber and kidnapper who had been on the command’s wanted list for multiple offences.

“He was intercepted near the Akwanga Central Mosque while riding a motorcycle and was fatally shot while attempting to evade arrest,” Nansel said.

According to the police spokesman, items recovered during a search operation included one Beretta pistol without a bridge number and 12 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

The PPRO added that one of his accomplices managed to escape with gunshot wounds, while a search is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

He said that the deceased had been evacuated to the Akwanga General Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Nansel said that Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, Commissioner of Police, commended the operatives for their professional conduct and effective collaboration.

He urged them to maintain the momentum in the ongoing fight against criminal elements in the state.

Therefore, the spokesman reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order and warned all criminals to desist from their nefarious activities or face decisive action.

By Ayo Onikoyi

The Real Housewives franchise has become a cultural phenomenon, offering a front-row seat into the lives of powerful women balancing business, family, friendships and everything else in-between.

The franchise first became a global sensation in the U.S., and its influence extended to Africa, where Nigerian women are making waves both locally and internationally.

Across the Atlantic, The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP)’s Dr. Wendy Osefo has brought Nigerian representation, balancing her reality TV presence with a career as a professor, political commentator, and author. Born in Nigeria and raised in the U.S., Wendy has remained vocal about her heritage, often incorporating her cultural identity into conversations on the show.

Halfway through its third season, The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos) continues to deliver everything viewers signed up for, lavish lifestyles, power moves, and shifting friendships.

With RHOLagos setting new standards for African reality TV and Wendy Osefo expanding Nigerian visibility on an international stage, the franchise continues to evolve while keeping its signature mix of glamour and real-life drama.

As the season unfolds, RHOLagos has kept audiences engaged with shifting alliances, business triumphs, and high-stakes confrontations. The Lagos cast: Adeola “Diiadem” Adeyemi, Carolyna Hutchings, Dabota Lawson, Laura Ikeji, Mariam Timmer, and Sophia Momodu are making it clear that beyond the designer outfits and exclusive events, real-life relationships and ambitions are at the heart of the show. Meanwhile, RHOP’s Wendy Osefo remains a standout personality in the franchise, balancing academia, media, and personal life all while embracing her Nigerian roots.

With reality TV becoming a key part of entertainment culture, Showmax is making it more accessible this March with the Shikini Deal, offering a limited-time-only deal on its General Entertainment plans from as low as N1,000. For those looking to catch up on RHOLagos or explore other must-watch shows, this presents a timely opportunity to do so at a lower cost.

As RHOLagos Season 3 heads toward its finale and fans in Africa catch up on Season 9 of RHOP courtesy Showmax, one thing is clear—Nigerian women are shaping conversations in reality TV, both at home and on the global stage. And with Showmax leading the charge in showcasing these stories, fans have a front-row seat to all the drama, success, and sisterhood that make the Real Housewives universe so compelling.
