ITF Lauds Nigeria’s Aviation Compliance Milestone. The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) has commended Nigeria for achieving a global compliance score of 75.5 percent under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Cape Town Convention. This milestone was acknowledged during the closing session of the 46th ITF Congress, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, with the ITF General Secretary sending a congratulatory message to Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
In a statement released on Sunday, Tunde Moshood, the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, said the ITF highlighted the importance of this achievement for Nigeria’s aviation industry. “We congratulate Nigeria for attaining a 75.5 percent compliance score under the International Civil Aviation Organization-ICAO Convention. This achievement offers Nigeria the platform to further develop a robust regional aviation industry based on the principles of decent work, economic development, and environmental sustainability,” the ITF said.
The Federation also applauded Keyamo’s leadership and the Nigerian government’s efforts in making this milestone a reality. “We thank the Nigerian government and Honourable Minister Festus Keyamo for his unwavering commitment to driving this progress,” the statement added.
Nigeria’s strong performance under the Cape Town Convention signals the country’s growing prominence in international aviation, positioning it as a key player in developing a sustainable and well-regulated aviation sector within the region. The ITF Congress, a major global event for transport workers and industry stakeholders, discussed critical challenges facing the transport sector and recognized Nigeria’s advancements in aviation standards.
This accomplishment underscores Nigeria’s dedication to adhering to global aviation regulations, enhancing the country’s reputation on the international stage while laying the groundwork for future growth in the industry.
