This restaurant has been cooking the same soup for 50 years and selling to people

The family-owned restaurant is famous for its unique soup, which has been cooking for 50 years.
A restaurant in Bangkok, Thailand, Wattana Panich, known for its ’50-year-old soup’ has become a popular destination known for its beef noodle soup, ‘neua tune’.
This long cooking time gives the soup its distinctive flavour and aroma.
In 2020, third-generation owner Nattapong Kaweeantawong stated that the soup has never been thrown away after a day’s cooking, and it is preserved overnight and used to cook the next day’s soup.

Kaweeantawong explained to NPR that the pot is cleaned daily, but I wonder how you can clean a pot with soup still in it? “Lots of people think we never clean the pot,” he says. “But we clean it every evening. We remove the soup from the pot, then keep a little bit simmering overnight.”
However, the original soup is still always in the mix.
Wattana Panich is a small restaurant located near a busy street, occupying two floors of a shophouse that the family bought decades ago.
The restaurant attracts crowds due to its large pot, about five feet in diameter and 2 1/2 feet deep, filled with chunks of beef. The pot is placed near the sidewalk along a busy street.
What’s in the soup?
The soup has gotten many rave reviews [atlasobscura]
The popular dish includes ingredients such as stewed and raw beef, tomatoes, garlic, cinnamon, black pepper, cilantro root, and around a dozen Chinese herbs.
The soup has never had a set recipe for its ingredients, so the chef constantly tastes it to determine what needs to be added.
The soup is made by cooking the beef for around seven hours, absorbing all the flavours, and then removing it from the pot to allow it to absorb the flavours.
The soup must be very delicious because the restaurant has amassed many awards, including two Michelin stars. The Michelin Star is one of the highest awards that can ever be given to a restaurant.

Ramadan Day 19: Prayers, dua, and hadith to reflect on your fast

As we reach the 18th day of Ramadan, the blessed month is gradually drawing to a close, but there is still much to gain from the spiritual nourishment it provides. Each day of fasting brings an opportunity to reflect, grow closer to Allah, and strengthen our faith.
Fasting is not just a physical act but a spiritual exercise that purifies the soul and deepens our relationship with our Creator. Today, let us seek Allah’s guidance, reflect on our journey, and continue to increase our faith through prayers, duas, and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Ramadan day 18 prayers
A powerful prayer for today focuses on seeking strength, sincerity, and increased faith:
“O Allah, grant me the strength to remain steadfast in my fast, sincerity in my worship, and patience in my trials. Increase me in faith, purify my heart, and help me draw closer to You. Guide me to do what is pleasing to You, and keep me firm on the path of righteousness. Ameen.”

Dua is a means to communicate with Allah and seek His mercy. Here is a meaningful dua for the 18th day of Ramadan:
“O Allah, make me among those who hold fast to the Quran and act upon it. Draw me closer to Your mercy and forgiveness, and keep me safe from the whispers of Shaytan and his trials. O Most Merciful, accept my supplications. Ameen.”

Ramadan day 18 quotes
Let these words inspire and motivate you as you continue your Ramadan journey:
Quranic reflection:
“Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.” – (Quran 16:128)Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):
“If you ask, ask Allah; and if you seek help, seek help from Allah.” – (Tirmidhi)Islamic scholar:
“Ramadan is the month where the heart finds peace, the soul is revived, and the sins are forgiven.” – Imam Ibn Qayyim
As we reflect on our fast and continue our journey through Ramadan, let us strive to increase our faith and devotion to Allah. May our actions, prayers, and duas strengthen our connection to Him and purify our hearts.
May Allah accept our fasts, increase our faith, and grant us His mercy and blessings during this blessed month. Ameen.
Day 19 Tahajjud (Qiyamul Layl)
Tahajjud is a deeply powerful prayer that brings us closer to Allah, especially in the final ten days of Ramadan. It is a time when the heart is at peace, and our supplications are answered.
Allah mentions the importance of night prayer in Surah Al-Isra (17:79):
“And rise from sleep for prayer in the night, as an additional prayer for you; it may be that your Lord will raise you to a praiseworthy position.”
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer (Tahajjud).” – (Sahih Muslim 1163)
As we prepare for another day of fasting, let us commit to observing Tahajjud on Day 19 and seek Allah’s mercy and blessings during this sacred time.
How to Perform Tahajjud:
The best time for Tahajjud is in the last third of the night, before Suhoor.
You may pray a minimum of two rakats and as many as 12 rakats, including Witr.
After your rakats, make personal duas, asking for forgiveness, mercy, and guidance from Allah.
May Allah grant us the strength to wake up for Tahajjud, forgive our sins, and grant us the highest level of paradise. Ameen.

Why Nigerians don’t deserve the luxury of protein or electricity

Protein deficiency should be an outlawed term. Did Nigerians not tell you that a good meal excludes eggs and fish? And electricity will only make, you guessed right, idle brains even, what, idler.
When the water we drink fills us up so well, even eggs would beg to be left out of the mix. Did I hear you ask for cold water? Where do you think you are—Iceland? If anything, you should be grateful we don’t import that. Yes, water.
Our coconut heads won’t rest. That’s why we want to produce and export iceblocks to the rest of the world. We know we’ll finally get respect from them if we do that.
Apart from using 24/7 to produce more ice block what are going to do with it?
— murid (@bnk2nde) March 13, 2025
Traveling soon with a Nigerian passport? Easy. Who needs a visa when our grand dreams of stable electricity will remain just that—a dream? Stay home and enjoy the darkness.

— loluwa.eth (@_LOLU) March 15, 2025
Is it just me, or are mosquitoes in hiding these days? Guess they’ve heard we might start using them for protein. Can’t blame them. Nigerians know how to recognise a good thing.
@Jibsman1 the country is hard but if you are prudent with your earnings and deliberate with how you spend money, you will afford your meals conveniently. pic.twitter.com/J7OdHd94zH
— Towobolah (@PriinceAdeniyii) March 16, 2025
Look around: tech entrepreneurs are living the good life. Who cares if regular protein is becoming a luxury?
Success. Miracle. Hope. Nigerians can’t suffer; our names won’t even permit us to.
Adura. Pamilerin. Gozie. There’s power in the tongue; we believe it, so our names carry it.
Adura’s hunger? Just a minor discomfort on the path to a promising future filled with politicking for goodwill from the corridors of power.
Pamilerin and Gozie? Those ones can sort themselves out with alternative power sources.

Nigerians? Suffer? Why? We were made just for this. Anything else is a luxury we cannot even afford.
