Sanwo Olu not doing anyone a favour by addressing hardships – Mr Macaroni

Popular Nigerian activist and actor, Mr Macaroni, has criticised Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over his response to the recent hardship faced by Lagosians following the closure of the Independence Bridge.

Taking to X, the comedian and activist argued that addressing the struggles of citizensis not a favour but a duty that comes with the office.

The Governor is not doing anyone a favour by addressing the hardship Lagosians are facing. It is his responsibility!!! Most people have been conditioned to accept the barest minimum from politicians, and that is why there is zero accountability to the people.

He further highlighted the privileges government officials enjoy at the expense of taxpayers, stressing that they should be fully committed to serving the people. Sir @jidesanwoolu, the people pay for your nice convoy, your security, your accommodation and every other luxury your office affords you.

All of these and many more make things very easy and enjoyable for you such that you never have to deal with the pain and hardship the people suffer. The least you can do is to serve them with utmost respect and total commitment! They don’t deserve anything less!!!

The closure of the Independence Bridge on April 2, 2025, had triggered massive gridlock in the state, leaving many commuters stranded for hours. Amid widespread complaints, Governor Sanwo-Olu later addressed the public, prompting further discussions on the government’s handling of infrastructure and public services. The bridge was then opened by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, the next day.

I haven't met a Nigerian pastor who knows the scriptures – Daddy Freeze sparks reactions

Controversial media personality Daddy Freeze has once again stirred the pot, this time claiming that Nigerian pastors do not truly understand scripture.

In a recent video making the rounds online, Daddy Freeze argued that while many Nigerian pastors may quote the Bible extensively, they fall short of grasping the scriptures in their true context.

I believe pastors should apply scholarliness to doctrine. I took my time to study it, and when I say study scripture I mean study. I have not met a Nigerian pastor that knows scriptures. They might know the Bible but they don’t know scripture.

According to the controversial personality, understanding the Bible goes beyond reading popular translations like the King James Version. He emphasised the need for scholarly depth.

There is what you call the scholarly consensus, which means they’ve sat down with the papyrus, sat with the original scriptures and what’s left of it and they’ve been able to agree with its data. Do you understand what I’m telling you?. You can’t tell me that you know the Bible because you have studied the King James from the beginning to the end. Until you study in the original languages, you don’t know scripture.

The statement, unsurprisingly, triggered a series of reactions online:

Well, I agree with Daddy Freeze on this one. Even Bible verses, many of the pastors don’t know. They only know the verses that enrich them or exert control on others.

So Daddy Freeze or whatever they call him is now now the mostly knowledgeable in scriptures and some ignorant people here are already twerking for him because they are tossed by everything that sounds attractive like no pastor in Nigeria knows scriptures Look who’s talking.

Is it about scriptures , or Making sure the spirit of the Holy Ghost leads you on what to preach or teach. If you read the Bible with a carnal mind, you will never understand anything.

Is the show of force not too aggressive? – Lolo on dispersed Abuja protest

Published

Nigerian actress and media personality Lolo has weighed in on the dispersal of protesters in Abuja with tear gas canisters during the demonstration led by the Take-It-Back Movement and other civil society organisations.

Reacting to reports of the protest’s disruption, Lolo questioned the rationale behind the security forces’ decision to fire tear gas on demonstrators who were reportedly unarmed and non-violent.

Citizens have a right to peacefully gather, it’s their right in the constitution. But when they now gather and there is no form of violence, it’s not like they’re carrying guns or anything, no form of violence or agitation.

Lolo emphasised that peaceful demonstrations are a core part of any functioning democracy and questioned whether the use of force in this case was warranted.

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has found himself in the headlines again, and this time, for handing out dating advice. According to the actor and self-proclaimed love expert, money isn’t what attracts women; confidence is.

The highly controversial actor took to Instagram on April 7, 2025, Edochie advised men to walk up to women they fancy, irrespective of their status.

Young men, let me give you some tips as an OG in the game. If you like a lady, no matter her status, walk up to her and tell her you like her. Don’t wait till you have money before you can talk. Money is not everything.

Yul emphasised that confidence is king, no matter the class or calibre of the woman, stressing that at the end of the day the worst thing a disinterested woman can say is no.

Confidence is number 1.Ladies love men who have guts and confidence no matter their class. Never let your confidence level drop for any reason. She will not kill you, she’ll either say yes or no. But most likely, in the end she’ll say yes, because like I told you before, ladies love strong men.

As would be expected, his bold statement raked all sorts of reactions from social media users. While some users praised the idea that boldness matters, others weren’t buying it at all.
