The office of the accountant-general of the Federation (OAGF) has pledged to release financial allocations to Rivers State following an appeal by the state government. This was disclosed by Bawa Mokwa, director of press and public relations at the OAGF on Saturday, November 23, 2024.This is coming barely 24 hours after Mokwa said the OAGF had withheld October payments to the oil-rich state in compliance with a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court judgement on October 30, 2024.Recall that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to withhold further Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) payment to the Rivers State government following a lawsuit by the lawsuit by the Martin Amaewhule-led faction of the Rivers State Assembly. Fubara appeals judgement However, in the appeal filed by the Rivers government on Friday, Governor Siminalyi Fubara prayed to the appellate court to set aside the lower court’s judgement, which he said was issued in bad faith. The Governor also sought a stay of execution and return to the status quo, which was granted by the appeal court.Following the latest twist, Mokwa said the OAGF would abide by the decision of the appeal court which overrides the previous order. “We are going to obey court orders. Yesterday, after a report that the state would not be paid, the Rivers state government sent a notification of appeal to that effect.“So, logically, we are going to obey court orders. The notification depicts that there is a stay of execution, which means we will maintain the status quo. It means the state will be given allocation,” he said.

Three senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have formally agreed to dump their party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after meeting President Bola Tinubu.

The decision was reached after hours of discussion with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, May 9, 2025.

The lawmakers involved in the defection include Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South).

The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje; Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris; Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu; and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, were present at the meeting, among others.

Ganduje led the three senators to the meeting, signalling the continuation of the recent influx of elected opposition figures into the AC.

Friday’s defection is the latest in a recent exodus of PDP members to the ruling party.

On Tuesday, Delta PDP lawmakers in the national assembly announced their defection to APC following a similar move by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy, predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and members of his cabinet.

The political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections has raised eyebrows in some quarters as critics alleged that President Tinubu is using state power to coerce opposition members to join his party.

Critics also warned that the defection trend may lead to the installation of a one-party system in the country, which may stymie opposition and spell the death knell of Nigeria’s democracy.

The father of late singer Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, says he paid a pathologist 16 million for his sons second autopsy.  Speaking during a TikTok live session, Aloba insisted, With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of 16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to 2 million. So, if the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then dont believe me again.  Some people were saying it was 12 million that I paid, but Im still telling you now that I paid 16 million. This revelation comes a month after an independent autopsy and forensic medical review by Dr. Uwom Eze failed to determine Mohbads cause of death.  In June 2024, a Coroners Court magistrate in Ikorodu, Lagos State, granted permission to hire a licensed pathologist for this follow-up examination. The post I paid N16 million for Mohbads second autopsy Singers father claims appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
