Police probe DPO accused of extortion

The Police Command in Ondo State has initiated an investigation into allegations of extortion against Ganiyu Dauda, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Igbara-Oke in the Ifedore Local Government Area. The investigation follows a protest by residents of the community on Friday, April 11, who accused the DPO and his operatives of extorting money from locals. The protesters, who were seen carrying leaves, blocked the main road leading into the community as a show of their dissatisfaction with the alleged extortion. The protest has drawn attention to the activities of the local police officers, sparking concerns among residents. Speaking on the matter, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed that an investigation had been launched into the allegations. He urged anyone with relevant information about the extortion claims to come forward and assist the investigation. Ayanlade stated, The command has launched an investigation into the details of the event and the alleged extortion. Although nobody has come forward to lay any report concerning the allegation against the DPO, anybody that has concrete evidence against the DPO or any of our men should please come forward with the facts. He further assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made known and appealed for law-abiding behavior from the people of the state. The protest was reportedly triggered by a misunderstanding between some members of a drivers union and police officers over the towing of an accident vehicle into the Igbara-Oke Divisional Police station. Ayanlade explained that the issue had been resolved with the intervention of the local government chairman. The post Police probe DPO accused of extortion appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Elon Musk is confirmed to be the father of 26-year-old influencer Ashley St. Clair’s son as his name is revealed

The name of the child that Ashley St. Clair said she welcomed with Elon Musk earlier this year has been revealed. According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, the 26-year-old influencer’s infant son, who was previously referred to as R.S.C., is named Romulus. The article also revealed the results of Musk’s paternity test in the case. According to a report from Labcorp, Musk’s “Probability of Paternity” was 99.9999%. A spokesperson for St. Clair confirmed to PEOPLE that a paternity test showed there is an almost 100% probability of paternity, as well as the infant’s name. In February 2025, St. Clair posted an announcement to X, revealing that she and Musk welcomed a child together in September 2024. Musk is also the father of 13 other children, whom he shares with three other women. “Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause,” she wrote at the time. “I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment,” St. Clair continued. “For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting.” On Saturday, March 29, St. Clair spoke to the Daily Mail on camera as she handed over the car keys to her Tesla Model S. She told the outlet she was selling the car to compensate for the “60 percent cut that Elon made to our son’s child support.” Musk denied that he “financially retaliated” against St. Clair and their child. On Monday, March 31, the Tesla founder responded to a tweet from Laura Loomer, who was reacting to a video of the 26-year-old influencer selling her Tesla to supplement money for child care. In his response, Musk denied St. Clair’s claims that he “financially retaliated” against the son that they share, saying “despite not knowing for sure” if the child is his, he’s given her child support. “I dont know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed,” he wrote on X. “Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”The post Elon Musk is confirmed to be the father of 26-year-old influencer Ashley St. Clair’s son as his name is revealed appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

If you own one of these phones, you won't be able to use WhatsApp from May

Meta, the company operating WhatsApp, has announced that the popular messaging app will no longer be supported on several older mobile phones starting from May 5, 2025.
According to the tech company, the development is due to changes in its compatibility with outdated operating systems, which means certain old smartphones won’t be able to keep up with the app’s latest features and security standards.
It further explained that the changes were necessary to enhance the green app’s security and functionality while ensuring compatibility with newer phones.
“The changes are part of regular updates to ensure the app stays secure and functional while working with newer phones,” Meta said in a statement.
This is hardly the first time WhatsApp has done this. The app periodically removes older devices to keep things running smoothly for other users.
Although the latest exercise isn’t expected to affect the vast majority of users, thousands of people who still use old devices will lose access to the app.
If that sounds like you, you may be best served to check whether your phone is on the list.
iPhones affected
iOS versions earlier than 15.1
iPhone 5s
iPhone 6
iPhone 6 Plus
These iPhone models are stuck on iOS 12.5.7, which is no longer compatible with WhatsApp’s latest version.

While other models can be upgraded to meet the new requirement, these phones, which were originally released in 2013 and 2014, are permanently disconnected.
Android users affected – since January 1, 2025
Android users experienced the first wave of incompatibility, which became effective from January 1, 2025, when the app dropped support for Android’s KitKat OS and older versions.
Though a few KitKat devices may still work with a system update, many older models no longer receive updates from their manufacturers, and they are as follows:
Samsung:
Galaxy S3
Galaxy Note 2
Galaxy Ace 3
Galaxy S4 Mini
Motorola:
Moto G (1st Gen)
Razr HD
Moto E 2014
HTC:
One X
One X+
Desire 500
Desire 601
LG:
Optimus G
Nexus 4
G2 Mini
L90
Sony:
Xperia Z
Xperia SP
Xperia T
Xperia V
How to know you’re in the safe zone
If your iPhone device accepts an update beyond iOS 15 or Android 5.0, you’ve no reason to press the panic button for now.
WhatsApp will continue to work seamlessly for you, and you’ll continue to receive new features and updates. However, if your device hasn’t been updated in years or is on the border of compatibility, it’s time to check before May sneaks up on you.
What if my phone is on the list?
1. Back Up Your Chats: Before taking any action, back up your WhatsApp chats to Google Drive for Android users or iCloud for iPhone devices. This way, you can easily restore your chats on a new device.
2. Check for Updates: Some older smartphones might still be able to upgrade to a supported operating system. Head to your settings to check if a software update is available. If it is, congratulations. Update, and you’re good to go.
3. Time to step up: If your device can’t be updated any further, it might be time to let go of that good old phone.
These changes affect both standard WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business apps, as they share the same system requirements.

CBEX: Investors will get their money back, but it might not be in the short term, EFCC gives update (video)
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says individuals who invested in the CBEX digital trading platform that recently crashed will get their money back. Speaking on Channels TVs Morning Brief on Wednesday, April 16, Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson of the EFCC, said the anti-graft agency has been receiving numerous calls from Nigerians seeking information and remedies regarding CBEX. He said before the public outcry and calls, EFCC had profiled the platform and alerted Nigerians about potential ponzi schemes. We were not waiting for Nigerians to call us before we started our work, of course, we have been working, Oyewale said. We were not beaten by what actually happened. Our dragnet is wide, our intelligence is very effective, and we were tracking that digital trading platform. We were tracking it, we profiled quite a number of things concerning the platform. You will recall that March 11th this year, the executive chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, had call to instruct us to alert Nigerians. The spokesperson recalled that about 58 ponzi scheme companies were listed by the commission in March for Nigerians to be wary of. That shows that we are proactive and we have our hands on what is happening. So concerning this investigation, we were on it, its not that we didnt know, he said. Weve been alerting Nigerians about ways and means how to separate themselves from this kind of shenanigans. Before the calls came, we were working, while the calls are coming, we are working; And even after the calls, we are still working. The essential thing is that, of course, we are going to recall some of the things that Nigerians should be looking out for, you know, concerning this kind of investment schemes and all of that. Oyewale further assured investors that their money will be recovered, though it may take time. No, it will be very irresponsible and unprofessional if the EFCC says that you have lost your money; there is nothing the commission can do about it, the spokesperson said. We are already working with Interpol and our international development agencies to ensure that these people are brought to book. Investors are going to get their money back, and we are already working on that. Everything Im saying is this kind of thing could have been averted. Be it as it may, it was not averted, we are not going to throw our hands out helplessly and say that theres nothing EFCC can do about it. We are more responsible and professional than that. We have spread out our wings by talking to Interpol and the necessary agencies across the world to be able to bring all the actors to book, and investors will have their money back. Oyewale said the investments might not be recovered in the short term, but EFCC will not allow investors to lose their money. Investors, they’re going to have their money back. It might not be in the short term, but I can assure you that the commission, as the leading anti-corruption agency in Nigeria, is not going to allow investors to just lose their money laundering that, he said.
