We are doing this to demonstrate to the countries involved that it is within the confines of an international treaty, legal process and convention.
Once properties or assets are recovered on behalf of a country, it is important to expedite action for restitution.
We are demonstrating this to the world, and we expect that the rest of the world will also reciprocate the same gesture towards Nigeria.
We are using this opportunity to appeal to those countries that are holding the proceeds of crimes, recovered on behalf of Nigeria not to continue to sit on those assets, he said.

Seyi Tinubu: NANS accuses Atiku of political interference, threatens protest

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) have accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of coordinating political interference in student leadership.
According to Olushola Oladoja-led NANS, in a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Samson Adeyemi, Ariku and activist-cum-politician, Omoyele Sowore, are sponsoring factionalism within the student body.
“It has come to our attention that certain elements, acting under the influence and sponsorship of former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Mr Omoyele Sowore, are actively involved in sowing seeds of discord within NANS,” the statement read.
The student bodies threatened to mobilise nationwide protests against the accused politician if such meddling continues.

The development comes on the heels of a recent emergence of a factional NANS President, Atiku Isah, and his allegation of assault and abduction against Seyi, President Bola Tinubu’s son.
Isah claimed that Seyi offered him N100m during a meeting in Lagos to promote Tinubu. He said he declined the offer because he couldn’t endorse a President who had failed to deliver on his campaign promises.
NANS accuses Isah of collecting bribes
But, NANS accused Isah of receiving funds to destabilise the association and falsely claim its presidency.
“We are aware of recent clandestine meetings between Atiku and his cousin, Isah, aimed at infiltrating and destabilising the student movement.”

The student union asked the former President to “call his associates to order or risk being declared persona non grata across Nigerian campuses.”
In the same vein, NAPS President, Eshiofune Paul-Oghayan, described Isah’s claims as “fabricated and politically mischievous.”

2027: Umahi has done more for Igbo than Obi – Ohanaeze declares support for Tinubu

The apex Igbo socio-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared that Minister of Works David Umahi has outperformed top Southeast political figures like Peter Obi and Hope Uzodimma in advancing the region’s development.
In a statement signed by the group’s Deputy President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and National Spokesperson, Thompson Ohia, Ohanaeze said it had reviewed the track records of various Southeast leaders, and Umahi came out on top.
“The findings from this comprehensive analysis present an irrefutable case that Senator Dave Umahi’s leadership distinguishes itself above all others, particularly in contrast to Mr. Peter Obi and Governor Hope Uzodimma,” the statement read.
According to the group, Umahi’s infrastructural strides and negotiation power as former Chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum have significantly boosted the region’s profile, including upgrades to the Enugu International Airport and the establishment of a second international airport in Abakaliki.
Ohanaeze also hailed Umahi’s current role as Minister of Works, pointing to what it called “revolutionary” infrastructure projects under his watch across the region.
But the group didn’t stop there — it went on to throw its full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, declaring that Umahi has now been appointed its Igbo National Political Leader to help mobilize support.
“As President Tinubu approaches the two-year milestone of his presidency on May 29, 2027, Ohanaeze Ndigbo conveys our unwavering assurance that Senator Dave Umahi is the singular, trusted political leader of the Southeast,” the group said.
