My father thought I was the kid from hell – Charly Boy, During an interview on the With Chude podcast, the singer explained that his struggles with authority began at home as a child, particularly against his father, whom he never saw eye-to-eye with.

“My thing with the status quo started from the house. I always used to wonder, why should my father be telling us what to do and giving us all these commands. Time to eat, time to pray, time for this and that and I was sick and tired of it,” he began.

He expressed his frustration with the strict household rules, which led to frequent punishments from his father.

He explained, “I was the one who was whipped the most among my siblings and I was the one that was punished the most because I wouldn’t do what I was asked to do. My father forgot that he was the one who played that in my head, he always used to tell us to query and investigate everything, so I used to have this vocal battle with him all the time.”

Charly Boy admitted that their relationship remained strained for many years and they never truly understood one another until they grew up.

He continued, “I didn’t understand his methodology and he thought I was this kid from hell that needed to be punished and trashed seriously and I don’t think we liked each other that much until everyone started getting mature and he started getting older. We then started seeing the beauty of our personalities.”

“We didn’t agree on anything and I found out that this didn’t enable me to bond with my father. He didn’t know who I was and I didn’t know who the bloody hell he was,” he concluded.

He eventuallly disowned his parents many years later, after feeling misunderstood by them.

Nigerian entrepreneur and socialite, Chioma Goodhair, has opened up about actress Iyabo Ojo’s initial reaction to daughter Priscilla Ojo’s relationship with Tanzanian singer, Juma Jux.

Priscilla and Juma got married over the weekend in a lavish traditional and white wedding held on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Chioma, a close associate of Iyabo Ojo, has now taken to Instagram to give fans and well-wishers a peep into the behind scenes of how the new couple got the approval of Priscilla’s mother for their relationship.

According to the socialite, Priscilla and Juma’s relationship was ‘love at first sight’, adding that regardless of this Iyabo Ojo needed some convincing from her before approving of it.

She said, “It was one thing encouraging @its.priscy and @juma_jux on their love at first site quest but it was a whole other thing convincing Queen Mother to allow a big time Tanzanian Artist date her only daughter and prized possession Priscy.”

Chioma explained further that “it wasn’t easy convincing Iyabo. I remember walking all the way from Oxford (United Kingdom) circus to the end of Knightsbridge (almost 2 hours) tryna convince her.

“And after that she would call every other hour saying ‘but Chioma this blog said this and that blog said that’ 😭& I’d say ‘but you and I Know most gossip blogs are inaccurate and unfounded.’”

According to Chioma, when Iyabo Ojo would eventually allow herself to be convinced, it was under the condition that “if she’s (Priscilla) gonna date him then he better be ready to marry her and I said I promise you he will (He told me he wanted to marry her on day 1)”

On when and how wedding plans started, “Like a joke we started planning the wedding on this call. This was August 2024. It was so funny because they had just become official bf & gf and here we were speaking the actual details of a wedding into existence.

“Iyabo was saying they must come to Nigeria to take her and then we can do one in their country too. I was laughing at first because of how detailed she was being but then I quickly got serious because anyone who truly knows Iyabo knows how prophetic she is. Whatever she speaks with her mouth comes to pass just as she says it.

“Fast forward barely 3 months later we started planning an actual wedding- the #JP2025 you’ve all come To be a part of.”

She revealed that the nearly 20-year age gap between them posed an issue with her father but not so much with her mother. Joke Silva is 62, Olu Jacobs is 82.

The veteran actress explained that while her father was initially against them getting married because of the huge age gap, her mother immediately supported it owing to having a similar experience with her own parents.

Dr. Akintayo asked: “You got married in 1985 at 24 so your husband was 20 years older than you, why did you accept?”

Joke Silva replied: “I was in love with him. As simple as that. And he was such a very gorgeous person.

“I remember one of my sisters telling me in 1984 when I came to Nigeria with him [Olu Jacobs] and they met, she called me aside and said, ‘Joke, this is the man to take to daddy.’

“Initially, my dad had issues with the fact that he [Olu Jacobs] was older but my mum was like, well, this is the person they know me with, and then her parents had that kind of age gap as well. So, she agreed for us to get married.”

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Badmus Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reacted to Speed Darlington’s allegation that he defeated him in their celebrity boxing match with the help of ‘juju’ (black magic).

In a video posted on social media hours after the fight, Speedy insisted that Portable must have been aided by juju to beat him.

“I don’t know what exactly happened, maybe it was the juju that Portable brought. I wasn’t tired, but my hand got dislocated,” Speedy had said.

However, reacting to the allegation, Portable admitted that he used juju to win the fight. The Zazoo Zeh singer, therefore, challenged Speedy to do the same.
