Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama has revealed another reason why she skipped President Donald Trumps second inauguration. Her husband attended Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Trump’s inauguration without her in January.  Obama initially said it was a choice she made ‘for herself’, but she has now shed new light on the decision.  It started with not having anything to wear, Obama said in a Monday episode of her podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson.  I mean, I had affirmatively, cause Im always prepared for any funeral, anything, Obama added. I walk around with the right dress, I travel with clothes just in case something pops off. So I was like, if Im not going to do this thing, I got to tell my team, I dont even want to have a dress ready, right? Because its so easy to just say, let me do the right thing.   Before the inauguration, former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama shared a statement with the Associated Press confirming the former first lady would not attend the January 20 Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies, the statement read. Former first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration.  Michelle Obama also did not attend former President Jimmy Carters funeral on January 9.  During the conversation with Robinson, her brother, and actor Taraji P. Henson, Obama recognized the speculation about her marriage being in trouble as the reason why she skipped the inauguration.  My decision to skip the inauguration, what people dont realize, or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me were met with such ridicule and criticism, she said. People couldnt believe that I was saying no for any other reason, that they had to assume that my marriage was falling apart, you know?  Henson praised Obamas decision not to attend, saying that women are shock absorbers.   Youve had to be shock absorbers for your husband, for your children, for your mom, for family, your loved ones, because of where you were sitting in the public eye, Henson said. Thats not fair to you. When do you ever get to live for you? I applaud you. Im happy that you are taking care of yourself in the way that you need to.   Obama said that now, she is trying to teach her daughters, Sasha and Malia, the art of saying no.   I want them to start practising now the art of saying no, because I see it in them pleasing, excelling, not wanting to take anything for granted, always showing gratitude, Obama said. Feeling like theyre enough right now. Its a practice. Its a muscle that you have to build. Because if you dont constantly build it, you dont develop it.  She also knocked down the divorce rumours during an April 9 podcast conversation on Sophia Bushs Work in Progress podcast, saying that skipping the inauguration had nothing to do with her marriage.  Im here really trying to own my life and intentionally practice making the choice that was right for me, Obama said. And it took everything in my power to not do the thing that was perceived as right, but do the things that was right for me that was a hard thing for me to do.  The post Michelle Obama reveals new reason she skipped Trump’s inauguration appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

The father of late singer Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, says he paid a pathologist 16 million for his sons second autopsy.  Speaking during a TikTok live session, Aloba insisted, With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of 16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to 2 million. So, if the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then dont believe me again.  Some people were saying it was 12 million that I paid, but Im still telling you now that I paid 16 million. This revelation comes a month after an independent autopsy and forensic medical review by Dr. Uwom Eze failed to determine Mohbads cause of death.  In June 2024, a Coroners Court magistrate in Ikorodu, Lagos State, granted permission to hire a licensed pathologist for this follow-up examination. The post I paid N16 million for Mohbads second autopsy Singers father claims appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

As Catholics worldwide welcome Pope Leo XIV, a lesser-known detail about the new pontiff has emerged: his visit to Nigeria nearly a decade ago.

Then known as Bishop Robert Prevost, the American-born clergyman travelled to Abuja in 2016 as part of his work with the Order of St. Augustine.

The visit marked a historic milestone for the religious order.

“For the first time, General Chapter of the Order of St. Augustine on the African continent — Abuja, Nigeria,” read a translated caption from a 2016 photo posted on Pope Leo’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

The image shows him alongside Catholic leaders, both foreign and Nigerian, dressed in traditional clerical attire.

At the time of his visit, Leo XIV was serving as Bishop of Chiclayo, Peru.

Before that, he led the Augustinian Province in Chicago and served two terms as Prior General of the global order, known for its emphasis on community life, spiritual reflection, and service.

His connection to Nigeria stands out, especially considering the country’s deep Catholic roots and the long gap since a papal visit.

The last pope to visit Nigeria was John Paul II in 1998.

President Bola Tinubu congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election, saying the pontiff’s “message of faith and hope resonates across the globe.”

He also expressed joy on behalf of Nigerian Catholics, who now find a deeper link to the Vatican through the pope’s past presence in Abuja.

Pope Leo succeeds Pope Francis, who visited several African nations but never Nigeria during his papacy.
