The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has prayed for Nigerian Muslims to continue allowing the love and spirit of Ramadan to guide their paths.

The former governor of Anambra made the call on Sunday in his 2025 Eid-el-fitr congratulatory message to felicitate with Muslim faithful on his X handle.

“I sincerely join the Muslim faithful in Nigeria to celebrate the 2025 Eid-el-fitr, which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“It is our earnest prayer that Almighty Allah will accept our prayers, fasting, and supplications now and always.

“It was indeed very fulfilling for me to break the Ramadan fasts with different Muslim communities across the nation.

“Sharing our blessings and joys was not just an act of Ramadan but should form part of our everyday lives.

“We pray that the blessings and lessons of Ramadan will forever remain and abide with us – that love will live in our hearts, that peace and unity will flourish in our nation.”

Obi prayed that the security of lives and property would again be celebrated within the nation’s borders and that Nigeria would experience more growth and development.

“Once again, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters for completing Ramadan.

Buhari's group CPC declares loyalty to Tinubu, dismisses plot to leave APC

Members of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc have reaffirmed their loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defunct CPC is former President Muhammadu Buhari‘s party. It merged with others to form the APC and eventually kicked out the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in 2015 after the latter had ruled for 16 years.

Other parties that formed the merger include the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Meanwhile, there have been speculations about a purported move by the CPC bloc to exit the APC over the Tinubu administration’s alleged marginalisation.

The reports come amid growing talks by main opposition leaders to form a big coalition ahead of the 2027 elections to challenge the ruling APC.

However, in a statement issued after a meeting on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the CPC bloc described the rumoured defection of their members as “false and mischievous.”

They reiterated that they “remain resolutely committed to the APC,” describing the party as a “collective project” that must be protected.

“We, the undersigned leaders and committed members of the former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), who were part of those instrumental in the historic merger that gave birth to the All Progressives Congress (APC), hereby issue this statement to clarify our unalloyed loyalty to our great party and express firm solidarity with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the statement reads.

“We wish to state categorically that we have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave.

“The CPC bloc remains one of the legacy foundations of the APC, and we are resolute in our commitment to the party and its progressive ideals.”

CPC bloc is proud to be part of the APC

At the same time, bloc members stressed that they are proud of the sacrifices made to build the APC and warned against any attempt to dismantle the platform.

“We will not allow some people to dismantle the party we helped to build through years of tireless work and dedication,” the group said.

The former CPC members described ongoing efforts to sow a seed of discord in the ruling party as an act of “division and desperation” that they “totally reject.”

“We align ourselves fully with the economic and governance reforms being undertaken by President Bola Tinubu,” the CPC leaders said.

“Though challenging, these policies are necessary steps to rebuild our economy and secure a better future for all Nigerians.

“We urge patience and collective support as the benefits unfold; while we acknowledge that some party members may feel sidelined, we emphasise that such grievances are not exclusive to any one bloc.

“We advise those concerned to seek redress through constitutional channels within the party and not to resort to negative public agitation or hasty exits from the party.”

The statement was signed by 23 leaders of the defunct party, including former governors of Katsina and Nasarawa, Aminu Masari and Umaru Al-Makura, respectively; Adamu Adamu, former education minister; and Farouk Aliyu, former member of the House of Representatives.

Others include Lucy Ajayi, former executive director of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex Management Board; Okoi Obono-Obla, former presidential aide; and Osita Okechukwu, former director-general of the Voice of Nigeria (VON).

The name of the child that Ashley St. Clair said she welcomed with Elon Musk earlier this year has been revealed.  According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, the 26-year-old influencer’s infant son, who was previously referred to as R.S.C., is named Romulus.  The article also revealed the results of Musk’s paternity test in the case. According to a report from Labcorp, Musk’s “Probability of Paternity” was 99.9999%.  A spokesperson for St. Clair confirmed to PEOPLE that a paternity test showed there is an almost 100% probability of paternity, as well as the infant’s name. In February 2025, St. Clair posted an announcement to X, revealing that she and Musk welcomed a child together in September 2024. Musk is also the father of 13 other children, whom he shares with three other women. “Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father. I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause,” she wrote at the time. “I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment,” St. Clair continued. “For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting.” On Saturday, March 29, St. Clair spoke to the Daily Mail on camera as she handed over the car keys to her Tesla Model S. She told the outlet she was selling the car to compensate for the “60 percent cut that Elon made to our son’s child support.” Musk denied that he “financially retaliated” against St. Clair and their child. On Monday, March 31, the Tesla founder responded to a tweet from Laura Loomer, who was reacting to a video of the 26-year-old influencer selling her Tesla to supplement money for child care.  In his response, Musk denied St. Clair’s claims that he “financially retaliated” against the son that they share, saying “despite not knowing for sure” if the child is his, he’s given her child support. “I dont know if the child is mine or not, but am not against finding out. No court order is needed,” he wrote on X. “Despite not knowing for sure, I have given Ashley $2.5M and am sending her $500k/year.”The post Elon Musk is confirmed to be the father of 26-year-old influencer Ashley St. Clair’s son as his name is revealed appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Meta, the company operating WhatsApp, has announced that the popular messaging app will no longer be supported on several older mobile phones starting from May 5, 2025.

According to the tech company, the development is due to changes in its compatibility with outdated operating systems, which means certain old smartphones won’t be able to keep up with the app’s latest features and security standards.

It further explained that the changes were necessary to enhance the green app’s security and functionality while ensuring compatibility with newer phones.

The changes are part of regular updates to ensure the app stays secure and functional while working with newer phones,” Meta said in a statement.

This is hardly the first time WhatsApp has done this. The app periodically removes older devices to keep things running smoothly for other users.

Although the latest exercise isn’t expected to affect the vast majority of users, thousands of people who still use old devices will lose access to the app.

If that sounds like you, you may be best served to check whether your phone is on the list.

iPhones affected

  • iOS versions earlier than 15.1

  • iPhone 5s

  • iPhone 6

  • iPhone 6 Plus

These iPhone models are stuck on iOS 12.5.7, which is no longer compatible with WhatsApp’s latest version.

While other models can be upgraded to meet the new requirement, these phones, which were originally released in 2013 and 2014, are permanently disconnected.

Android users affected – since January 1, 2025

Android users experienced the first wave of incompatibility, which became effective from January 1, 2025, when the app dropped support for Android’s KitKat OS and older versions.

Though a few KitKat devices may still work with a system update, many older models no longer receive updates from their manufacturers, and they are as follows:

Samsung:

  • Galaxy S3

  • Galaxy Note 2

  • Galaxy Ace 3

  • Galaxy S4 Mini

Motorola:

How to know you’re in the safe zone

If your iPhone device accepts an update beyond iOS 15 or Android 5.0, you’ve no reason to press the panic button for now.

WhatsApp will continue to work seamlessly for you, and you’ll continue to receive new features and updates. However, if your device hasn’t been updated in years or is on the border of compatibility, it’s time to check before May sneaks up on you.

What if my phone is on the list?

1. Back Up Your Chats: Before taking any action, back up your WhatsApp chats to Google Drive for Android users or iCloud for iPhone devices. This way, you can easily restore your chats on a new device.

2. Check for Updates: Some older smartphones might still be able to upgrade to a supported operating system. Head to your settings to check if a software update is available. If it is, congratulations. Update, and you’re good to go.

3. Time to step up: If your device can’t be updated any further, it might be time to let go of that good old phone.

These changes affect both standard WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business apps, as they share the same system requirements.
