Controversial Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin after failing to meet the bail conditions set by an Upper Area Court in Kwara State on Monday, April 14.

Portable, 31, was arraigned on charges including criminal defamation, cyberstalking, criminal intimidation, and inciting public disturbance.

These charges stem from a petition filed by veteran Fuji musician Saheed Osupa, who accused the singer of maligning him in a March 19 Instagram Live broadcast.

In the video, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ singer claimed, “This man dey try bring down my shine! He be like person wey dey chop snail with shell—him no get sense. Osupa carry tortoise for stomach. When Apple Music and Spotify want to drop money for me, na him remove my song from the platform, make I no see money.”

Osupa described the remarks as defamatory and inciting, stating that Portable’s statements were “intended to damage my reputation and stir public hatred.”

Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed Portable’s arrest in Abeokuta, Ogun State, around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.

He was transferred to Ilorin following an investigation by the State Intelligence Department.

“In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” said Ejire-Adeyemi. “Upon his arrival, the suspect’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.”

Portable bail conditions

Portable was granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with the court stipulating two sureties of equal amount.

One must be a senior official of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), and the other a property owner in a Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Ilorin, with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.

However, the singer remained in custody at the close of proceedings, having failed to meet these conditions.

The case, documented under FIR 117(1) CPC, includes charges under Sections 392, 397, and 114 of the Penal Code, as well as applicable sections of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2020.

Presiding magistrate Sunday Adeniyi adjourned the matter until April 30 and urged both parties to maintain decorum as proceedings continue.

The feud between Portable and Osupa reportedly escalated after the Fuji icon flagged Portable’s 2023 single, Fuji Shakushaku, for copyright infringement.

The track was removed from streaming platforms following Osupa’s complaint through his management company, Digital Music Commerce and Exchange Ltd. (DMCE).

“We cannot stand idly by while King Saheed Osupa is being disrespected,” DMCE said in a statement posted to Instagram on March 27.

“While most cases of copyright infringement were resolved amicably, one individual engaged in cyberbullying, attacks, and reputational damage.”

In a series of follow-up videos, Portable criticized the 55-year-old singer, calling him “big for nothing.” However, he later issued a public apology, citing financial frustrations over the song’s takedown.

This marks yet another legal entanglement for Portable, who has faced multiple criminal charges in the past two years, including assault, theft, obstruction, and debt disputes across Ogun and Lagos States.

I was talking about Jesus and they tried to shut me down – Odumodublvck

Nigerian rapper, Odumodublvck, has spoken up about the moment his microphone was turned off during his acceptance speech at the 2025 Headies.

Taking to X on April 29, 2025, the rapper shared his perspective on the incident, explaining that he harbours no resentment towards the award show.

I was talking about Jesus, and they tried to shut me down. I am a hundred percent sure that if I was talking about His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, I would not have been cut off. I genuinely have no bad blood towards the headies; rather, I am grateful they put my mic back on to spread the gospel. Jesus is king. He is before now and forever.

The rapper won the highly coveted award for the next-rated category, making him the first to do so after securing more votes than other nominees Shallipopi, Qing Madi, Ayo Maff, and Nasboi.

The hitmaker was presented the award by Afrobeats megastar Davido, who also won the prize in 2013.

However, during his acceptance speech, his microphone was turned off, which many perceived was done because of a time crunch. The mic was soon turned back on and Odumodublvck was able to finish his speech.

After the rapper posted his tweet, X users took to the comment section in reaction to his speech ‘being about Jesus’.

Reactions below:

Sometimes you self dey overdo.. that’s not a religious ground you have to respect other faiths in the building this attitude of trying to force people into something is what you need to get rid of stop behaving like you live in a 5th world Slum… I’m a Christian a follower of Christ and his teachings….but there are limits to things especially in a multiple faith belief country and a country where religion is being used for fraud… Get sense or go home

But your music na opposite kala

No, drop this virtue signalling performance. I can’t recall any song you have ever done or named to honor Jesus. You cannot have a body of work that is about sex, cultism and violence then want to use Jesus to catch cruise on a headies stage.

You were wasting time with your shenanigans that’s why they cut you off. Almost everyone who collected award there gave thanks to Jesus/God and they didn’t cut them off . Every small thing una go play jesus card

The 31-year-old is still basking in the euphoria of his new achievement and is yet to respond to some of the comments shared in his post.

Chude Jideonwo, Media entrepreneur and celebrated storyteller, hosted Africa’s first-ever talk concert, #WithChude Live, in Lagos, Nigeria.

The atmosphere was electric as more than 5,000 guests packed the hall for a groundbreaking night of vulnerability, truth, and deep emotional connection.

Chude hosted panel conversations with celebrated stars including Teni, Taaooma, and Kiekie on one panel and Ruth Kadiri, Hauwa Lawal, and Moses Bliss on another.

In addition, he conducted deeply personal interviews with some of Nigeria’s most beloved figures — Falz, Bovi, Funke Akindele, Jerry Eze, and Chimamanda Adichie — bringing stories of vulnerability, strength, and authenticity to life on stage.

One of the evening’s most powerful moments came when Chude read an excerpt from his highly anticipated memoir, How Depression Saved My Life, set to be released in September 2025.

He read: In fact, I should state that nothing really changed immediately after I came to my awakening. I didn’t become happier or stronger or anything. I don’t know if that’s what happens for anyone else, but that’s not what happened for me. I continued to be depressed, to all intents and purposes.

He also shared a heartfelt poem from the book, offering an intimate glimpse into his personal journey of healing, hope, and triumph.

The event started with a vibrant red carpet session, where celebrities and dignitaries across Nigeria were interviewed and celebrated.

The red carpet buzz added a touch of glamour and excitement to an evening dedicated to real, meaningful conversations. Media houses from across Nigeria were present to cover this historic event, capturing the rare sight of a full hall where every heart was fully engaged. Guests were seated — no murmuring, no distractions, no side attraction— only heartfelt conversations that stirred the soul.

True to its mission, #WithChude Live promised to be a beautiful day for the mind, spirit, and heart, and it lived up to its promise.

Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has cleared the air regarding a viral tweet thought to have been posted by Iyabo Ojo’s newly-married daughter, Priscilla.

It all began when Priscilla’s husband Juma Jux; a Tanzanian singer took home the award for the Best East African Artist of the Year during the Headies awards ceremony on April 27, 2025.

Through the excitement, Juma Jux’s feat was received with equal skepticism and joy from social media users.

While many congratulated him, others wondered how the perceived newcomer clinched the award.

A particular X user reacted to the news saying, “LMAO the game is the game,” a statement which many interpreted to mean that Juma won the award simply because he married Priscilla.

This was a sentiment that many on X seemed to share, as others voiced their agreement in his comment section.

Smart guy who knows how to expand his music career in Africa.

Sometimes I feel he married a Nigerian for this.

Man wants to expand Because wtf does he sing?

The post piqued the interest of many social media users, including an X account in Priscilla’s name.

Yes oo, he got married for Nigerians recognition and Headies award 😂😂 the game is the game my brother. Shout-out to my husband such a smart, calculative and hardworking  man, I’m so lucky 🥳❤️ big love to the Jp fans for voting. We love You🫶🏽❤️

The tweet immediately went viral across social media, especially because the account was thought to be Priscilla’s. Soon Toyin Abraham took to X to clarify that the account was a fake.

She wrote, “THIS IS A FAKE ACCOUNT PLSsss, Pricilia is not on Twitter 🙏🙏🙏
