The MLS could be welcoming a new superstar to the league after rumours emerged of a move for Manchester City’s superstar.
Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne might be heading to Major League Soccer soon, according to latest reports.
De Bruyne’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the 33-year-old has reportedly opened talks with San Diego FC.
If he makes the move, De Bruyne would follow in the footsteps of legendary players like Lionel Messi, David Beckham, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who have all boosted the popularity and quality of MLS.
Bruce Arena, who managed Beckham at LA Galaxy, thinks De Bruyne would be a fantastic addition to the league.
“I mean, if they come here with the right attitude, I think it’s a real plus,” Arena told talkSPORT.
Arena has met De Bruyne and praises him as “an outstanding person.” He believes De Bruyne would bring a winning mentality to MLS. “If he decides to come here, I think he’ll have the right attitude and bring a lot to the league.”
“I think Messi’s done a fabulous job. Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] has done a great job. Robbie Keane was here and did an outstanding job. So the contributions from those types of players is huge.”
