Former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Celestine Omehia, made a call for steadfastness during a visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt. The purpose of the visit was to encourage the governor to remain committed to ensuring a successful local council election.
Omehia emphasized that the election is a fundamental right of the people, asserting, “Every resident of the state has the right to vote and should exercise that right.”

He noted that it is the responsibility of the state’s electoral body to organize the poll, allowing citizens to select their grassroots leaders.
“Those who oppose the election are not interested in the welfare of Rivers people,” Omehia added.
He further expressed the group’s commitment to strengthening democratic principles, promoting unity, and ensuring the state’s continued peace, unity, and development, which would be a source of pride for past leaders.
