Olympic speed icon Elaine Thompson-Herah publicly reacted for the first time amid her coaching situation of reportedly parting ways with Reynaldo Walcott.
‘Forever grateful’ – Elaine Thompson-Herah breaks silence amid coaching situation. In the wake of Elaine Thompson-Herah’s controversial coaching situation that has ravaged athletics news media, the world’s fastest woman alive has finally broken her silence, sharing some posts on her X page.
The Jamaican track legend’s recent coaching dilemma began after it was confirmed that five-time world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce had parted ways with coach Reynaldo Walcott, who also trains Thompson-Herah.
According to reports from Jamaica, the possible reasons why Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce parted ways with coach Reynaldo Walcott has been revealed.
Following the news, it was also reported that the Olympic sprint icon would join her senior colleague in exiting the Elite Performance Track Club, with speculations of returning to the MVP Track Cub under the guidance of her former coach Stephen Francis, who discovered and trained her to sprint greatness.
If reports are true, it’ll be Thompson-Herah’s third coaching change in three years, after failed attempts with her husband Derah Herah, then coach Shanikie Osbourne, and now Walcott to get her back to her peak form.
With no confirmed news from her management on her parting ways with coach Walcott, the five-time Olympic champion seems not to allow the recent situation to be of any disturbance as her recent posts on her X page are in this light.
Saint Lucia’s golden girl Julien Alfred had one of the greatest rookie year in history after sweeping all titles available in the 2024 season.
“I will always and forever grateful,” she wrote.

Elaine Thompson-Herah’s stint with coach Reynaldo Walcott
The speed icon had a rocky 2024 season with coach Walcott, after her controversial split from coach Osbourne in November 2023.
Thompson-Herah started training under the guidance of coach Walcott at the Elite Performance Track Club in a bid to actualize her Olympic dream of making history in Paris by becoming the first woman to win the sprint double titles at three consecutive Games, after capturing the 100m and 200m gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and defending both titles at Tokyo 2021.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned when she sustained an Achilles tendon injury at the NYC Grand Prix in May, thus leading to her disheartening withdrawal from the Jamaican Olympic trials. Her non-participation at the trials abruptly ended her participation in Paris.
If or when her management officially announces her split from coach Walcott, Thompson-Herah is allegedly returning to the award-winning coach Francis at the MVP Track Club, hoping he can finally guide her back to her peak form for next season.
