Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken to social media to call for the release of online activist Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

The activist’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday had caused an uproar on the Nigerian online space, with mixed reactions from netizens.

With the EFCC still largely silent on the details of the arrest, Davido has intervened, calling for the activist’s release.

In a post on X, Davido hailed VeryDarkMan’s positive impact on the lives of common Nigerians despite the hostilities he’s been facing from authorities.

Like Davido, Nigerian singer and saxophonist Seun Kuti had earlier commented on VeryDarkMan’s arrest, hinting that the activist’s current predicament may be linked to his criticism of the Nigerian church.

Seun asserted that his position originates from a conversation with the TikToker’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

Nigerian singer, Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has admitted that he became toxic when he was only 6 years old.

According to the ‘Asiwaju’ singer, who spoke during a recent interview on the Bro Bants podcast, his first heartbreak experience during his childhood started his toxicity.

Recounting his heartbreak experience, the 25-year-old singer said he had developed feelings for an older woman who, in return, playfully referred to him as her ‘boyfriend’, leading him to believe they were in a relationship.

However, he was left “heartbroken” when he saw the aunt sleeping with another man through her window.

He admitted that the experience left him crying, traumatised and singer Styl-Plus’ early 2000s smash hit, ‘Imagine That’.

“The last time that I experienced heartbreak, I was very, very young. There was this aunty that I liked, she used to call me ‘my boyfriend.’ So, I assumed that she was my woman. I was just 6 years old,” he said.

“I got heartbroken because one day, I saw some guy smashing her through her window. The guy was t*****g her up. I cried. I was traumatised. I started singing ‘Imagine That’ by Styl-Plus. That was what started my toxicity. That experience broke my heart.”

Recall that earlier in the year, Ruger announced his plan to get married before the year 2025 runs out.

Nigerian disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has recounted a personal experience that made her realise that some people don’t offer free help.

The celebrity disc jockey, the daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, took to her X page to narrate how she learned the lesson the hard way.

She recounted how a few years back, she thought she had found a helper who offered her help and supported her, only to find out later that the person was faking his love and support for her just to get in touch with her billionaire father.

Cuppy explained that after a while of knowing the person, he later made it clear to her that he expected something in return, such as an investment or an introduction to her dad.

She admitted that the way things turned out made her feel stupid because she did not see it earlier, and therefore learned the hard way.

Cuppy wrote, “I learnt the hard way that there’s no such thing as a FREE lunch.

“A few years ago, I really thought someone was being kind. They showed up for me, offered help, and made me feel supported. I thought it came from a good place… But later, they made it clear they expected something in return, an investment or, hilariously, an introduction to my dad.

“I felt so stupīd for not seeing it earlier.
