Anambra APC accuses Tinubu of anti party over Bianca Ojukwus appointment

One year after swearing in his 45 ministers, President Bola Tinubu sacked five and nominated seven more, including Bianca Ojukwu.

In a heated response to President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu as a minister-designate, the Anambra chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the president of engaging in “anti-party” actions.

During an emergency meeting in Awka, the state’s APC stakeholders expressed deep dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s decision, highlighting that he acted without consulting party members in the state.

“This is nothing but an act of anti-party, and it is detrimental,” said High Chief Bunty Onuigbo, the APC South East Zonal Secretary.

Onuigbo, who spoke on behalf of the Anambra APC stakeholders, emphasised that appointing Ojukwu, a known affiliate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), undermines party loyalty and threatens the morale of local APC members.

“By empowering members of other political parties at the expense of the APC in Anambra State, Mr President is not supporting party loyalty,” Onuigbo asserted.

He questioned if Tinubu’s decision was a subtle nod to the opposition, asking, “Does Mr President want a mass defection of APC members in Anambra to APGA? Is he indirectly working for APGA in Anambra State?”

Expressing his discontent, Onuigbo described the decision as “unheard of and highly demoralising,” alleging that Tinubu’s actions strengthened rival parties while disregarding APC’s standing in the region.

“This is a group that despises the APC and wants nothing to do with us. Mr President is encouraging them by making such appointments,” he remarked.

The Anambra APC has decided to formally submit its grievances through State Chairman Chief Basil Ejidike to the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) for resolution.

Alhaji Abdulmajid Dan Bilki Commander, a Kano-based chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has disclosed that campaigning for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election was the biggest regret of his life.

Commander stressed that in his entire life, there has never been any decision he regretted so much than campaigning for the former Lagos State Governor.

According to the ruling party chieftain, the President has failed many Nigerians who voted for him in 2023, given the performance indicators available to every Nigerian.

Commander, who claimed to remain an active APC member, regretted dedicating his time and resources to convincing people to vote for the party.

“It pains me, but it is the truth, and let the truth be told. I am an active member of APC, but I must admit that Nigeria’s administration under APC has failed Nigerians, and as an individual who had dedicated his time and resources in convincing people to vote for the party, I want to state here that I am regretting my action,” he told Daily Trust.

The Kano politician also declared that he must seek their forgiveness as a representative of the masses, given that the APC-led government has not delivered on its promises.

Commander added that Nigerians are suffering, and their expectations from the APC government have not been met.

“Nigerians are hungry and angry. Their security not guaranteed and governance lopsided, they couldn’t afford two square meals per day,” he said.

Another Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Salisu Koko, who represents the Koko-Besse/Maiyama Constituency of Kebbi State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Amos Magaji, representing Kaduna’s Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, defected to the ruling APC during Tuesday’s plenary.

The Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, who made the announcement on the floor of the house during plenary in Abuja on Wednesday, told the APC caucus to welcome Koko as one of them.

Abbas quoted Koko as attributing his defection to the protracted crisis in the opposition PDP.

However, the Minority Leader, Rep. Kingsley Chinda, raised a point of order, saying there was no ‘protracted’ crisis in PDP.

Chinda urged the house to acknowledge the consequences of defection without compliance with the provisions of the constitution.

Supporting the minority leader, Rep. Ben Etanabene amplified what he called the consequences of the defection, which, according to him, included the lawmaker’s vacation from his seat.

The speaker, however, overruled the point order, saying that the house had no powers to implement such constitutional provisions.

He, therefore, urged the aggrieved lawmakers to approach the appropriate quarters to address the issue.

Kudos to the President’s media team on the first Presidential Media Chat. President Tinubu was bold, brilliant and showed brightness in expressivity

This, I dare say, he is a damn good President. And I should know, I worked for two past Presidents,

Recall that Tinubu spoke to select journalists at his Lagos residence on Monday, in his first such media appearance since he assumed office about 18 months ago.

Topics discussed included subsidy removal, tax bills, economic reforms, size of governance and corruption.
