My wife stopped being attractive to me at a time – Pastor Olawande admits

Pastor Daniel Olawande, lead pastor of RCCG The Envoys, Lagos, has opened up about a time he got fed up with his wife and how she managed to revive his interest in her.
Speaking on the podcast “Love Gist”, Pastor Olawande recounted how he felt disconnected from his wife, finding her less appealing and attractive.
He explained that the situation led him to seek the help of a mentor who intervened and invited his wife for a meeting.
After the intervention, he noted that his wife surprised him with a romantic evening at a hotel, complete with roses and a specially prepared meal.
Pastor Olawande acknowledged the romantic evening as what revived the romance and passion in their marriage.
He said, “There was a time that I felt disconnected from my babe, and I was just tired of her. I know you’ll be shocked to hear this but I was just tired, I was just fed up as in she wasn’t appealing to me anymore, she wasn’t attractive and I became overwhelmed, like she touches me, I’m touchy, like she was even the one asking for s3x at that time and I was not available. Any little thing, I was not excited anymore, and I don’t know what was happening, so I had to go to a mentor to talk to her about it.
“I don’t know what is happening, I get angry easily, I get emotional, I mean I just become defensive, I’m not just attracted to her as it were and we’ve not, of course when I fast, we don’t have s3x but this one, there’s no fasting and I’ve not been able to even come close to my wife for a while.
“I was just disconnected from her, and I was not really feeling it anymore, but I went to her mentor, and her mentor spoke to her, her mentor apologised on her behalf, her mentor said that she was going to talk to her, so her mentor called her for a meeting.
“I don’t know what they discussed and then the next evening, we were going out and my wife requested that I allow her to drive and then she drove the car and drove me to a hotel and I got there, she said we’re going to see somebody and then we’re going, I was like who am I going to see and I entered the room, I saw roses on the floor, roses on the bed, I saw a table set before me, a lot of, you know, a lot of different kinds of dishes and I’m like what’s this, what’s happening she said I made all this for you and I’m like wow, I sat down, I started eating, I was eating this, eating this, before I finished it, I transferred money to her, something immediately, you know, and then all the love that died, the love came back that night.”

ID Cabasa tackles Akon for claiming he helped to create Afrobeats genre

Veteran Nigerian producer and music executive Olumide Ogunade, popularly known as ID Cabasa, has faulted Senegalese-American singer and executive Akon’s claims that he helped create Afrobeats.
Akon had, in an interview with American actress Sherri Shepherd about a week ago, projected himself as the key to the global push of the Afrobeats genre in the late 2000s.
He argued that his collaborations and partnerships with Nigerian artists and music executives in that early period birthed the Afrobeats known today.
Akon recalled that Wizkid was the first Nigerian artist he signed, followed by a collaboration with Banky W.

Reacting to these claims during an interview with Wazobia FM, ID Cabasa tackled Akon, saying he had no right to claim credit for the origin of Afrobeats.
Although ID Cabasa acknowledged that Akon collaborated and partnered with some Nigerian artists and music executives between the late 2000s and 2010s when Afrobeats was yet to gain global traction, he insisted it does not justify his claim of credit for its creation.
He pointed out that artists like 2Face, 9ice, and Timaya were already doing big things long before Akon came to Nigeria to collaborate with the artists and music executives he worked with.
The record producer also debunked Akon’s claim that Wizkid was just a local musician before he signed him to his record label in 2008 and groomed him. He noted that it was Banky W who discovered Wizkid’s talent and signed him to his record label, Empire Mates Entertainment, which later partnered with Akon’s label.

Speaking in Pidgin, ID Cabasa said, “Akon for also tok say na he still discovered the likes of 2Face, Timaya, 9ice and Co. Na the people wey he roll with when he come Nigeria, wey tell am say, ‘I’m the biggest person around this place.’ So, he properly feels he pioneered business and branding sides of Afrobeats.

“Even the way wey he take dey tok about Wizkid, no be wettin the story be be that. We all know say na Banky W dem sign Wizkid. Yes, we collaborate with Akon in terms of distribution but e no mean say he go tok say na he create Afrobeats. Because Afrobeats no be wettin wey one person create, na culture.”

Why foreigners should visit Lagos, Ghana before judging Africa – Tems

Nigerian singer and Grammy-winning artist, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has advised the global community to visit Lagos and Ghana before forming an opinion about Africa.
Speaking in an interview with Fashion Bomb Daily during the 2025 Met Gala in New York, Tems called on the global community to experience firsthand the rich culture of Africa instead of relying on the skewed notions commonly peddled by people who have never set foot on the continent.
Therefore, the ‘Love Me Jeje’ singer invited international visitors to experience Africa, especially Lagos and Ghana, firsthand and gain a genuine perspective on life on the continent.
The singer noted that the true allure of Africa is found in its vibrant cultures and artistic expressions.

She said, “I always encouraged people to go to Lagos and Ghana for vacation. Just go and see for yourself before you make an opinion [about Africa]. See it for yourself and see how you feel.
“I think it [the beauty of Africa] is in the creativity, the daily efforts, the looks, the songs, the traditions and the cultures.”
Tems also spoke about how diverse African music is, contrary to the global perception that it is just Afrobeats.
“We [Africans] can go further in every single aspect of sound. We are not just Afrobeats. There is Amapiano, Afrosoul, R&B, Afro Jazz. There are so many genres in African music that people are not all the way tapped into yet,” the singer said.
