No Case of Stealing Against Nollywood Actress Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal, Lagos Police Confirm. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal was not involved in any theft, following allegations that she stole gold at the Oba Akintoye Market, Lagos Island. This confirmation came after a thorough investigation into a viral video showing traders accusing Anjorin-Lawal of theft.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified the matter, stating that the accusations were based on a misunderstanding. According to Hundeyin, the incident stemmed from an error in the account number provided by the gold seller, which led to a mistaken transfer.

“There was no case of stealing to begin with. Our investigation revealed that the seller gave the wrong account number, and Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal mistakenly transferred the payment to this incorrect account,” Hundeyin explained.

Once the error was realized, the actress made another transfer to the correct account, despite not being at fault. However, after the altercation, during which she was assaulted by traders, Anjorin-Lawal decided to withdraw the charges against her attackers, who were initially arrested and taken to court.

Hundeyin further emphasized that the traders involved admitted their mistake in their statements to the police, confirming that Anjorin-Lawal had done everything correctly. The actress went above and beyond by making a double payment to avoid further conflict.

The viral incident led to the arrest of six traders—Qudus Jokogbola, Suru Olawale, Edu Shakirat, Fausat Mohammed, Kafayat Ahmed, and Opere Simiat Morenike—who were arraigned in court on charges of assault and blackmail. The prosecution accused them of conspiring to harm Anjorin-Lawal, resulting in grievous bodily harm and public disorder, charges which they all denied.
