In a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, the Cheetahs of Benin Republic defeated the Amavubi of Rwanda 3-0 in a matchday three encounter played on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Benin Republic returned from defeat to Nigeria to beat Libya in their second AFCON 2025 Group D game.
At the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny, Benin Republic, under the leadership of former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, defeated Rwanda to secure second place in Group D.
In the other group game of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Rwanda drew 1-1 with Libya.

The Benin Republic Cheetahs took only seven minutes to take the lead over Rwanda.
Jodel Dossou’s ball was converted by Steve Mounie to set the tone of the game and was the only strike of the first half as Benin Republic took a slim advantage to the break.
Benin Republic’s dominance was rewarded in the 67th minute when Andreas Hountondji scored a second goal off a pass from Abdoul Rachid Moumini.
In the seventieth minute, Hassane Imourane of Benin Republic clinched the victory with their third goal of the game.
