They want Man City punished — LALIGA president weighs in on 115 charges, LALIGA president Javier Tebas has stated that most Premier League teams want Manchester City to receive punishment for 115 charges currently levied against them.

Manchester City and their charges

The Cityzens have been the most dominant club in the English top flight over the past decade. They have won the last four Premier League titles as well, however, their success has been tainted by the legal battle they find themselves embroiled in.

The Manchester-based side have been charged with over 115 counts of financial-related improprieties, over nine years between 2009 and 2018. They risk possible relegation or significant point deduction as punishment, and court proceedings begin on Monday, September 16.

What Tebas said

With the court date approaching, conversations about the charges are making the rounds. Tebas, the head honcho in Spanish club football commented on it, and he revealed that he is in conversation with Premier League teams, and the majority of them want to see Man City punished.

“I have spoken with many Premier League clubs and most of them understand that City should be sanctioned,”’ he said, per Mundo Deportivo.

Tebas, who is famous for his belt-tightening policies in LALIGA also commended the Premier League for intensifying their PSR efforts.

“This year they have got their act together and have taken away points,” he said.

“They have an economic dumping that was damaging to Spanish football. ‘We could not do the same because we would return to 2010 when clubs disappeared due to debts.”
