"If your hand no stretch to her, she no go bite you" speaking from a lawyer’s perspective, Ruggedman defends student who fought her lecturer in Unizik

Ruggedman, a Nigerian rapper and activist, has shared possible defences for the student who bit and fought her lecturer in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik, Awka, Anambra State. A video shared with LIB showed the student filming a dance video when her lecturer tapped her, said “excuse me” and passed. The girl eyed the lecturer and loudly accused him of hitting her. This caused the lecturer to reverse and demand that she deletes him from her video. But the girl is alleged to have attacked the lecturer when he reached for her phone and gave him a bite on both arms.
A video also shows her hitting the lecturer and dragging his shirt (read here).
Analysing the incident from a lawyer’s perspective, Ruggedman wrote: “A LAWYER WILL SAY: You can demand she deletes a video showing you, but you can’t reach for her phone. “You should have called for the school authorities and they would have done their job and all this drama won’t be happening between a lecturer and a student. “1. She was there before you. “2. What she said isnt an insult but a question. “3. Reaching for her property is wrong and she protected her property. “4. If Your hand no stretch to her, she no go bite you.”

Anambra 2025: Concerns mount over LP aspirant’s alleged ties to APGA

As the Anambra State gubernatorial election approaches, concerns have emerged within the Labour Party (LP) over allegations that one of its aspirants may have undisclosed ties to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
A senior Labour Party figure, who requested anonymity, expressed worry that an external force might be backing the aspirant with the intent of weakening LP’s prospects in the November 8 election.
The chieftain alleged that APGA is reportedly facilitating the aspirant’s political engagements, particularly his local government tour.

“There is strong suspicion that APGA is behind his moves. The aim may be to ensure he secures the LP ticket but later runs a weak campaign, ultimately favouring the ruling party,” the source claimed.
These concerns have triggered internal discussions within the LP, as party stakeholders strategise to avoid potential sabotage.
Some members fear that if the allegations are true, it could significantly affect the party’s electoral performance.

The party has yet to make an official statement on the matter, but insiders suggest that leadership is closely monitoring the situation.
As political activities heighten ahead of the polls, the LP is expected to scrutinise all candidates vying for its ticket to ensure the party remains competitive.
The Anambra governorship election is set to be a fiercely contested race, with major political parties positioning themselves for victory.

l was abducted the day my wife delivered twins – Freed Ondo kidnap victim recounts ordeal, says captors have godfathers and are aided by locals
A businessman and farmer, Olanrewaju Oyeleye, has narrated his harrowing experience at the hands of kidnappers who abducted him on the way to his farm, in Abo-Ashakin, Akure North local government area of Ondo State. Speaking with Ondo State-owned newspaper, Hope at the weekend, Oyeleye revealed that he was abducted on the same day his wife gave birth to twins; a moment that should have been filled with joy but was instead overshadowed by terror. Oyeleye, who spent five days in captivity, described the ordeal as a nightmare he would not wish for his worst enemy. He recounted how the assailants, whom he identified as armed Fulani herdsmen, ambushed him and his farm manager on a Friday morning around 10:30 a.m., recently. I was driving my Toyota Camry when I suddenly found the road barricaded by five to six armed men wielding AK-47 rifles, he narrated. “They shouted at me to stop, but I attempted to reverse. Before I could react further, they opened fire on my car. The gunshots were relentless, I lost count of how many times they fired. Realising I could not escape, I eventually surrendered. The kidnappers dragged me and my companion into the dense forest, forcing us to walk all night to an unknown location, a visibly shaken Oyeleye recalled. According to him, his captors claimed they had inside information about his finances and demanded N100 million as ransom. When he pleaded that he did not have such money, they subjected him to a brutal beating. The kidnappers, who referred to themselves as the Mafia, boasted that they feared no one, not even the military. Oyeleye and his fellow captives overheard their captors making phone calls to some persons, including an individual named Alhaji, to arrange for supplies and discuss the procurement of more weapons. Shockingly, he discovered that locals were aiding the criminals. Supplies were delivered via motorbikes to designated points within the forest, where the kidnappers collected them. “They dont operate in isolation. They have a network and godfathers, he intoned. Even after his release, Oyeleye said he remained traumatised and fearful. Yesterday, as I was heading home, I was terrified. Today, stepping outside, I am still scared. If they could kidnap me in daylight, what could happen at night?” he lamented. He called on government at all levels, especially the federal government, to overhaul the security architecture, equip agencies with modern technology, and strengthen community policing, even as he advocated swift justice, arguing that the impunity enjoyed by kidnappers only emboldens them After days of starvation, my captors provided only water once, which was unfit for human consumption and these are people my family managed to negotiate the ransom down to 25 million with, which was delivered to Ise-Ekiti, revealing the shocking distance he had been forced to walk from Abo-Ashakin, Oba Ile, through the forest They used cutlasses on my head and back for days. Every morning, they would start hitting me, then handed me a phone and forced me to call my family members, demanding the money, he said. The post l was abducted the day my wife delivered twins – Freed Ondo kidnap victim recounts ordeal, says captors have godfathers and are aided by locals appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Photos: Sowore accompanies Lagos corps member to NYSC office after viral video

By Henry Oduah
Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, on Monday accompanied a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Ushie Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye, to the office of the NYSC Local Government Inspector (LGI) in Eti-Osa, Lagos.
Uguamaye has been in the news after her video on TikTok went viral.
The corps member, in her post, lamented the increase in food prices, criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Uguamaye raised alarm that she was being threatened by NYSC officials, adding that she was summoned before the LGI’s office at Eti Osa 3 at 10 am Monday, March 17.

However, in his post on X, Sowore claimed the LGI failed to show up for the meeting.
“We arrived Eti-Osa LGI offices of the @officialnyscng with youth Corper, Ushie Rita uguamaye in Lagos. She was scheduled to appear before the LGI today and we escorted her to their offices with attorneys,” he wrote.
“@mrfestusogun, @yinka_oyesomi and @justiceojienoh but LGI official had absconded failing to show up throughout our stay.”
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi have since thrown their weights behind Uguamaye, saying she must not be cowed into silence.
